Hanging body recovered from SI’s room

Hanging body of a youth was recovered from the Sub-Inspector’s room at Amtali police station in Bargina district on Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Shanu Hawladar, son of Hazrat Ali of Paschim Kalagacia village of Amtali upazila.

Shanu was arrested on Monday (March 23) night as a suspect of a murder case.

Later, on Thursday morning, Shanu’s body was recovered from SI (Investigation) Monoranjan Mistri’s room at Amtali Police station.

Deceased’s family alleged that SI Monoranjan and duty officer ASI Md. Arifur Rahman hung Shanu’s body after killing him on Wednesday night.

Barguna police superintendent Md. Maruf Hossain suspended two accused police members and formed a three-member probe body led by Additional Police Super Tofail Ahmed to look into the matter.

The other members of the body are—Additional Superintendent of Police (Head Quarter) Moharram and Assistant Superintendent of Police of Amtali Taltali Circle, Rabiul Islam.

Abul Bashar, Officer In-charge of Amtali police station told reporters that Shanus body has been sent to Barguna General Hospital for autopsy.
