Special prayers held at Baitul Mukarram on Independence Day

A special doa and munajat was held at the National Baitul Mukarram Mosque in the capital on Thursday after Zohr prayers, marking the Independence and National Day.

During the munajat, prayers were offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of martyrs who embraced the supreme sacrifice during the 1971 Liberation War, and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members who were killed on August 15, 1975.

Prayers were also offered seeking relief from the global coronavirus pandemic, and for the country’s peace, progress and prosperity, said an Islamic Foundation press release.

Senior Pesh Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Maulana Mizanur Rahman conducted the doa and munajat. Islamic Foundation directors Muhammad Mohiuddin Majumder and Anisur Rahman Sarker, and deputy director Alamgir Haider, among others, attended the prayers.
