A fire that broke out at some cotton warehouses in Tongi on Saturday noon was doused after three and a half hours later.
Senior station officer Md Atiqur Rahman of Tongi Fire Service and Civil Defence confirmed this to media.He said, “Ten units of firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after three and a half hours of frantic efforts.”
Earlier, the fire originated at a cotton warehouse in Tongi Mill Gate area near Gazipur City Corporation office at around 12:00 pm.
“Firefighters brought the fire under control at 3:40 pm,” Atiqur Rahman said.
The origin of the blaze and amount of losses caused by it could not be determined yet, he also said.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
