Myanmar navy rescued a missing Bangladeshi fishing boat with 20 fishermen and handed over it to Bangladesh Coast Guard on Sunday.
The fishing boat named FB Baklia Fishing-1 went missing in the deep sea of the Bay of Bengal on January 19 after the engine of the boat had gone out of order. Drifting in the sea the boat entered into Myanmar water and stuck to an island.Communication with the boat also went disconnected since January 21.
After being informed, Bangladesh Navy requested Myanmar through the embassy to rescue the missing boat.
Myanmar Navy rescued the boat on Saturday afternoon and handed over it along with all 20 fishermen to Bangladesh Coast Guard at around 4:00 pm on Sunday.
Lieutenant Commander Md. Saiful Islam, Staff Officer (Operations) of Bangladesh Coast Guard East Zone said, "after completing various formalities, the Myanmar Navy handed over the boat and fishermen to us through the Embassy."
