Information Secretary Abdul Maleque said the sports enable to perform physical activities along with the development of mental health.
“The sports play a vital role to perform physical activities and improve mental health. Therefore, There is no alternative to sports for building a healthy nation,” he said while addressing the inaugural session of the Bijoy Dibosh Badminton Tournament at Tejgaon in the city.Cholochitro Shilpi Samiti organized the event on Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) premises with the participation of renowned film artists, a press release said.
Maleque, also president of Bangladesh Badminton Federation, said being inspired with the support of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh secured a total of 19 gold medals in the 13th South Asian Games held in Nepal.
To continue this winning spree, the Information Secretary urged the sportsmen and sports-lovers to come forward for the development of the sports in the country.
BFDC managing director Abdul Karim, Cholochitro Shilpi Samiti President Misha Saudagar and its General Secretary Jayed Khan, Film Producers’ Association President Khorshed Alam Khasru, Film actress Rozina, actors Masum Parvez Rubel, Monowar Hossain Dipjol and Amin Khan also spoke, among others, on the occasion.
