Professor Muzaffar Ahmad, President of National Awami Party (Pro-Moscow NAP), a member of the advisory council of the Liberation War-time government in exile, has died at a hospital in Dhaka.
The 97-year-old politician breathed his last around 8:00pm on Friday at Apollo Hospitals, NAP Joint General Secretary Ismail Hossain told media.Ahmed was the last surviving member of the advisory council of the Liberation War-time government in 1971.
He was put under intensive care at the hospital in a critical condition.
He has been suffering from old-age related complications for long.
He is survived by wife, NAP vice president Amena Ahmed, and a daughter.
Born on April 14, 1922 in Dewibddar in Cumilla district, he completed his graduation and post-graduation from the department of economics at Dhaka University with distinction. He served in the Economics Department of Dhaka University in 1952-54.
