The five Cricket Icons have served their nations for many years and the World Cup 2019 maybe their last outing in any such event. Chris Gayle and Dale Steyn have already announced their formal retirement from one-day internationals after the World Cup.

Here’s a look at five Cricket Icons who are all set to say goodbye to the international 50-over game.

Mashrafe Mortaza (Bangladesh)

Mashrafe Mortaza, one of the greatest players of Bangladesh who is only playing ODI cricket may announce his retirement after the ICC World Cup 2019 in England and Wales. Injuries have been a major roadblock, which has allowed him to play only 209 ODIs for Bangladesh in a stop-start career, which has lasted 17.6 years. Knee injuries have forced him to stay out of Test cricket from 2009 and earlier this year, the veteran also took retirement from T20Is.

MS Dhoni (India)

MS Dhoni is one of the best players in the team India. He is considered as the ‘Captain Cool’ for his wise decision during the matches. His contributions are remarkable for the India team during the 2007 to 2014. He was the first captain of team India who won the all trophies of ICC (ICC World Cup in 2011, ICC Championship Trophy in 2013 and ICC World T20 in 2007).

Chris Gayle (West Indies)

One of the most feared and a destructive opening batsman of team West Indies Chris Gayle has undoubtedly lived up to his reputation as the ‘Universe Boss’ who also has announced his retirement after the ICC World Cup 2019.

Lasith Malinga (Sri Lanka)

Sri Lankan fast bowler and great player Lasith Malinga may announce his decision to retire from the game after the World Cup. Having burst onto the scene at the 2007 World Cup, Malinga was an instant sensation.

Dale Steyn (South Africa)

Dale Steyn is considered as one of the feared pacemen in modern-day cricket. He has extreme pace, ability to swing the ball both ways and commendable accuracy. He has been marred by a troublesome shoulder over the past year or two.
