Woman hacked dead by ‘drug addict’ man in Chattogram

An elderly woman was hacked to death and four other people were injured in an attack by a ‘drug addict’ man in Uttar Kattoli area under Akbar Shah thana on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Sondhya Rani, wife of Dhirendra Chandra, a resident of Boro Kali Bari area.

Jasim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Akbar Shah Police Station, said drug addict Satyajit attacked a number of people in the evening without any reason and hacked them, leaving five people including Sondhya Rani injured.

The injured were taken to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared Sondhya dead around 8:30pm.

The other injured victims are Shanti Nadi, 70, Dipok Dutta, 48, TinkuDatta, 45 and PradipTalukder, 40.

After the incident, Satyajit was handed over to police.
