Condemning the deadly suicide bomb attacks in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called for national unity against terrorism.
Saying that terrorists have no religion or state, Hasina urged for a united stand against militancy and terrorism. The PM made the remarks while addressing a press conference to brief the media about her just-concluded bilateral official visit to Brunei Darussalam.
The press conference began at 4 pm today (Friday) at her official Ganabhaban residence.
The prime minister offered her condolences for the death of Zayan and the other casualties in the Easter Sunday attacks. She also hoped for a quick recovery of those injured in the bomb blasts.
Hasina said that she was first informed of the attacks in Brunei before receiving word of Zayan’s death.
“I sent a condolence message to the Sri Lankan prime minister condemning the attacks as soon as I received the news. I strongly condemn these cowardly attacks. We must create a consensus against militancy and I urge everyone to take effective measures against it.”
