Bangladeshi youth shot dead by BSF in Thakurgaon

A Bangladeshi national was shot dead by members of Border Security Force (BSF) of India at Donga Border in Haripur Upazila under Thakurgaon on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Sumon, 22, son of Safirul Islam, a resident of Dangipara village in Haripur Upazila.

The incident happened near the pillar of 357 of Hariganj upazila of Dongaon border.

The BSF member also picked up another youth Masud Rana, 20, son of Enadul.

It has been learned that the BSF members from Basatpur camp opened fire on a group of 10/12 cattle traders when they went to border pillar no 357, leaving Sumon dead on the spot.

Confirming the incident, Lieutenant Colonel Samiun Nabi, commanding officer of BGB- 50 Battalion, said BGB protested the incident and a letter was sent convening a flag meeting.

The flag meeting will be held at noon, he added.
