Awami League presidium member Mohammed Nasim on Wednesday called upon Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to join Jatiya Sangsad (JS).

He said they don’t want a country free from opposition parties or even any weak opposition in parliament.

Nasim, also the former health minister, came up with the statements while addressing a discussion meeting at the party headquarters on Bangabandhu Avenue in Gulistan in the capital.

Slamming BNP, Nasim said they will not benefit from lodging complaints to foreigners.

He claimed that BNP ‘escaped movement and elections out of fear’. “So, carry out political activities giving up fear,” he said.

Referring to the tragic fire incident in Chawkbazar, Nasim said such chemical warehouses should not be in residential areas.

“Such accidents will happen frequently if they remain in the residential areas,” he said.

“Businessmen have to realize that chemical godowns should be relocated to Keraniganj area,” he said.
