Ducsu and hall union polls are slated to be held on March 11
The student wing of BNP, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), began distributing nomination papers for the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) and hall union elections on Saturday, at BNP's headquarters in Naya Paltan.
JCD leader Hasan Al Arif told that they had urged the authorities to postpone the Ducsu elections by three months to ensure a stable and congenial political environment on campus.
“We are hopeful that we will win if a free, fair, and credible election is held. The university students also want a credible poll,” he added.
BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, BNP Publicity Affairs Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, JCD President Rajib Ahsan, and other JCD leaders and activists were present during the distribution of the nomination papers.
The Dhaka University authority announced the Ducsu election—which have not been held in 29 years—as well as hall union polls will be held on March 11 this year.
