President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said Indonesia planned to make a proposal to be a host country of the Olympic Games in 2032, reports

“With the experience we’ve had by hosting the 18th Asian Games, we’re confident that we’re also able to host a bigger sports event,” President Jokowi said during a press conference conducted together with International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach and Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) president Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah at Bogor Palace in Bogor, West Java, on Saturday.

The head of state said during their meeting with the IOC president and the OCA president, they talked about Indonesia’s implementation of the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang from Aug. 18 to Sept. 2. “They highly appreciate and admire the success of Indonesia in organizing the major event of the Asian Games 2018,” he said.

President Jokowi stated that their high appreciation was not only related to the organization, but also the public participation as shown, among others, by the many volunteers involved in the event. “I think this is a strong capital that we have now and also expressed by the two prominent guests,” said the President.
