Gunfight at Hatirpool Bazar, DU student among 2 hurt

A Dhaka University student among two have reportedly been injured during a gunfight between two criminal groups at Hatirpool Bazar in the capital on Thursday night, private TV channel Ekattor reports.


The injured student was identified as Ashraful Alam, 27, and the other as Ashik Mahmud, 25, an expatriate in Saudi Arabia.


Both of the injured are out of danger, told Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Camp Sub-Inspector Bachchu Mia.


Ashraful sustained a bullet hit in his right leg while Ashik was hit in his left arm, he said.


They were got bullet hit while crossing Hatirpool Market area around 9pm on Thursday.


Quoting the two, SI Mia that they saw many people running around Hatirpool Market area, they also started running for cover and then realised they have been hit by bullets.


He added that the police were investigating what had happened in the area.


He could not provide any more details of the injured people.
