The Managing Director of the East West Media Group Ltd (EWMGL) as well as Bashundhara Group, leading conglomerate of the country, Sayem Sobhan Anvir was given a warm reception for winning India’s most prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Awards-2017.
Editors, journalists, officials and employees working for the East West Media Group Ltd (EWMGL) on Tuesday accorded him with flower bouquets in a reception ceremony arranged at the conference room of the EWMGL.
Sayem Sobhan is the first Bangladeshi who has been honoured with the most prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Awards-2017 for his outstanding contributions to the mass media, social service and sports.
Sayem Sobhan, also Managing Director of EWMGL, is behind all success of the media outlets and their contribution to the realm of free, fair and objective journalism in the country.
In his speech, Sayem Sobhan told that this achievement and honour is for Bangladesh. He also thanked all the media personnel of the EWMGL for their continuous efforts urging all to continue their effort to bring more achievement in coming days.
“This achievement is for Bangladesh, for the media. All credit goes to the East West Media Group Ltd as the award was given for outstanding contribution to Media”, said Sayem Sobhan Anvir.

Congratulating Sayem Sobhan Anvir for his outstanding achievement, daily sun editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury said that this award is rare honour for Bangladesh.
“No one from Bangladesh got this prestigious award earlier. It is a milestone for Bangladesh. Someone may get this award in future, but Sayem Sobhan Anvir is the pioneer”, he said.
Naem Nizam termed this achievement as the mega achievement for the country and subcontinent as well, and said that it’s a matter of pride having such award and being pioneer.
“All are craved for this award. But our managing director is the pioneer. Everyone starts journey but few people show the way. Bashundhara Group is such a group which loves to be pioneer”, he said.
Lauding the achievement of Sayem Sobhan Anvir, Abu Tayeb said that the contribution and achievement of media was recognised in this sub continent through the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award.
Top officials, employees of the media outlets and other sectors were present on the reception programme.
Indian poet, lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar handed over the award to Sayem Sobhan at a grand gala at Mumbai St Andrew’s College auditorium on Friday last.
