Veteran Awami League leader SM Nurunnabi passes away

Veteran Awami League leader and member of Awami League advisory council SM Nurunnabi breathed his last at 3.40 PM this afternoon at Faridpur Diabetic Medical College hospital (cardiology unit).


He was brought to the hospital last night in an unconscious condition after he suffered a stroke at his Alipur residence of the town. He was 84, UNB reports.


SM Nurunnabi popularly known as Naya Bhai was a very prominent organizer of the Liberation War and was also general secretary of Awami League of greater Faridpur district.


He was also very close to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Shaikh Mujibur Rahman and a language movement veteran.


He left behind his wife, four sons, one daughter and hundreds of well wishers and party men to mourn his death.
