LPG importers and operators have assured the government that there is no shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Bangladesh and that the current supply and stock situation is satisfactory.
They gave the assurance at a meeting with Energy Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood at the Energy and Mineral Resources Division of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on Monday, according to a press release issued by the ministry.
The meeting reviewed the country’s LPG imports, stocks, supply situation, market prices and other related issues.
According to data from the National Board of Revenue (NBR), Bangladesh imported 157,760 tonnes of LPG in August 2026 and 118,742 tonnes during the first 22 days of September.

Based on the data presented at the meeting, LPG importers and operators said the country had adequate stocks and supply, with no shortage currently reported in the market. The energy minister, however, urged operators to ensure uninterrupted supply to consumers despite adequate stocks and warned against hoarding that could cause public suffering.
The operators assured the minister of their cooperation in maintaining a normal supply situation.
The minister also heard about various obstacles faced by operators in running their businesses and directed the Energy and Mineral Resources Division to take steps to resolve them quickly.
He said the ministry would provide all-out support to remove obstacles to LPG imports and take the necessary measures to make people’s lives easier.
The minister also sought the cooperation of all stakeholders in keeping the country’s overall energy situation normal.
