Saudi civil defence issues 'potential danger' warning for Makkah, Jeddah

Saudi Arabia's civil defence agency broadcast a warning of "potential danger" for the province of Makkah, home to Islam's holiest city, on Friday, and another for Jeddah, without saying why.

The Gulf kingdom has come under repeated attack from Yemen's Iran-backed Houthis in recent weeks as part of the latter country's revived civil war. Saudi residents were instructed to "proceed to the nearest safe place" by the agency.
