India and Poland should deepen their bilateral relations across trade, investment, technology, defence and connectivity, Indian Rajya Sabha member Harsh Vardhan Shringla has said ahead of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s forthcoming visit to India.
Speaking at a conference titled “Poland and
India: Strategic Partners in a Changing World Order” at the University of
Warsaw in Poland, Shringla highlighted the potential to elevate bilateral ties
to a strategic partnership, according to a Facebook post by the Indian
parliamentarian.
The conference was organised by the Centre
for International Relations as a curtain-raiser to Tusk’s visit.
Shringla stressed the need to build a
multidimensional relationship based on political trust and cooperation across
various sectors.
On economic cooperation, he said there was
considerable scope to expand bilateral trade, boost investment flows in both
directions and connect Indian businesses and talent with Poland’s manufacturing
and innovation ecosystem.
He also described the proposed India-European
Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA) as a potential game changer that could create
new opportunities for trade and investment.
Highlighting people-to-people connections,
Shringla underscored the importance of educational exchanges, tourism and
cultural ties in strengthening relations between the two countries.
He thanked conference participants Kinga
Gajewska, Adam Burakowski and Ambassador Kłodkowski, as well as the University
of Warsaw’s grand chancellor, for their contributions to the discussion.
Congratulating Indian Ambassador to Poland
Neeta Bhushan and her team on preparations for Tusk’s visit, Shringla expressed
confidence that the visit would open a new chapter in India-Poland relations.
