Two Bangladeshis were killed and 24 others injured in an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
Of the injured Bangladeshis, 11 are workers
and 13 are Umrah pilgrims. They are receiving treatment at different hospitals
in Riyadh.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh disclosed
the information on Sunday night, saying a missile struck Terminal 3 of the airport
at around 3:15am on Saturday (10 October), leaving passengers from Bangladesh
and other countries dead and injured.
According to preliminary information, 12
people were killed and 309 injured in the incident. The victims included two
Bangladeshis killed and 24 Bangladeshis injured.
The deceased Bangladeshis were identified as
Shahed Ahmed of Bogura and Nasrullah Badarpuri of Cumilla, according to the
embassy.
The embassy said three injured Bangladeshis were receiving treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) of King Abdullah Hospital. Their conditions were stable.
They were identified as Hafez Hasan of Dhaka, Kazi Nurullah of Brahmanbaria and Omar Faruk, a migrant worker in Saudi Arabia.
Two other Bangladeshis, Saffat Rahman of
Naogaon and Daudul Islam of Cumilla, were receiving treatment at National Guard
Hospital. Saffat was unconscious, the embassy said.

Uddin, both from Dhaka, were being treated at Riyadh Medical Hospital.

The attack left around 500 passengers
stranded at the airport, including people arriving from Bangladesh and those
waiting to travel on domestic and international routes via Riyadh. Passengers
waiting to return to Bangladesh were also stranded.
The embassy has arranged accommodation, food
and alternative transport for affected passengers.
Accommodation and meals were arranged for 100
passengers who had arrived from Bangladesh on Saudia flight SV804, Riyadh Air
flight RX17 and US-Bangla Airlines flight BS281, or were waiting to travel to
destinations across Saudi Arabia on flynas, flyadeal and Fly Riyadh services.
They were accommodated at Marriott and
Radisson hotels and in dormitories at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman
University.
The embassy also arranged special buses to
transport 67 Umrah pilgrims who had arrived from Bangladesh wearing ihram
garments from Riyadh to Jeddah.
Around 400 Bangladeshi passengers booked on
the cancelled Saudia flight SV804 from Riyadh to Dhaka were being transferred
to King Fahd International Airport in Dammam for their return to Bangladesh.
The embassy also assisted two Bangladeshi
workers travelling from Riyadh to Bahrain via the Al Khobar land border.
