Pakistan gives nod to import of fresh pineapples from Bangladesh

Pakistan has approved the import of fresh pineapples from Bangladesh, the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad said in a press release on Friday.

The approval follows several years of continued communication and necessary measures by the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad, the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Karachi, the Department of Agricultural Extension, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with relevant Pakistani agencies and authorities.

There is strong demand for Bangladeshi pineapples in Pakistan, according to the high commission.

The opening of the Pakistani market to Bangladeshi pineapples is expected to create opportunities to expand the import and export of other agricultural products and fruits between the two countries and boost bilateral trade and commerce.
