Shakib Al Hasan and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza have found their way back into the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) official narrative after their images were quietly removed from the board's premises following the July 2024 uprising.
The newly elected BCB leadership under Tamim Iqbal has put up graphics at the BCB office featuring Shakib with the caption "The Global Star" and Mashrafe with "The Captain Who Transformed Belief To Reality" — a move widely seen as a significant shift in tone from previous administrations.
Sources confirmed to Daily Sun that the display was approved by the current board and reflects a willingness to acknowledge both legends' cricketing achievements despite past sensitivities.
"You cannot forget their achievements," said a director appointed by board president Tamim to restore those photos.
The photographs had been torn down amid controversy over Shakib and Mashrafe's political involvement.
Neither the Faruque Ahmed nor the Aminul Islam Bulbul-led boards had taken any initiative to restore them.
