Sunzamul steers Rajshahi with composed century on Day 1

Sunzamul Islam, primarily known as a left-arm spinner, played a commanding innings to anchor Rajshahi on the opening day of the fourth round of the 27th National Cricket League. His patient and composed 112 off 181 balls guided the team past early setbacks, helping them post 275 for 9 against Dhaka at the Rajshahi Divisional Stadium.
Rajshahi slumped to 49 for 3 in the early exchanges, but Sunzamul’s composure steadied the innings. He found crucial support from Saabbir Rahaman, who contributed a valuable 47. For Dhaka, Ashraful Islam Siam was the standout bowler with four wickets, supported by Salauddin Sakil’s three wickets.
At the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium, Mymensingh faced Chattogram and closed Day 1 at 271 for 8. Mymensingh suffered early losses, but Aich Mollah anchored the innings with a composed 65. Contributions from Shuvagata Hom Chowdhury (54) Arif Ahmed (36) and Maruf Mridha (22 off 60) ensured Mymensingh ended on a solid note. Chattogram’s Nayeem Hasan picked up three wickets.
Meanwhile, at the Shahid Chandu Stadium in Bogura, Barishal were bowled out for 196 against Rangpur, despite Fazle Mahmud Rabbi’s resilient 80. Rangpur’s Robiul Hoque stole the spotlight with a five-wicket haul, dismantling Barishal’s middle and lower order. In reply, Rangpur finished the day at 43 for 2, with Nobin Islam (21) and Naeem Islam (6) unbeaten.
