Rain, thundershowers forecast in 17 districts

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally at speeds of 45 to 60 km/h over Dhaka and 16 other districts by 9am on Sunday.

The weather forecast was issued for inland river ports for the period from 8:30pm on Saturday (August 29) until 9am on Sunday.

According to the forecast, rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds may sweep across the regions of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Kushtia, Dhaka, Faridpur, Tangail, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet.

The winds may blow from the south or south-east at speeds of 45 to 60 km/h, the BMD said.

River ports in these areas have been advised to hoist Local Cautionary Signal No 1.
