Heavy rain and thunderstorms likely in 13 districts including Dhaka

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thunderstorms accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds with speeds of 45-60 kmph in 13 districts, including the capital Dhaka, by 9:00am.

The weather warning was issued for inland river ports across the country for the period from 9:00pm on Sunday (16 August) to 9:00am on Monday.

According to the forecast, the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Dhaka, Faridpur, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar may experience rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds from the south or southeast at speeds of 45-60 kmph.

River ports in these areas have been advised to display Local Cautionary Signal No. 1.
