Ferry services halted on Paturia-Daulatdia and Aricha-Kazirhat routes

The authorities of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation have suspended ferry and launch services on the Paturia-Daulatdia and Aricha-Kazirhat river routes.
According to ghat authorities, ferry and launch operations were halted on Wednesday (27 May) morning due to strong winds and heavy rainfall.
BIWTC General Manager Salam Mia said that vessel movement has been suspended for safety reasons amid stormy weather and rain. Ferry and launch services will resume once weather conditions improve.
Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, large crowds of homebound travelers were still seen at the Paturia-Daulatdia and Aricha-Kazirhat ferry terminals. Even around midnight and 1:00 am on Tuesday night (26 May), long queues of passengers and vehicles were visible in the terminal areas.
Vehicle queues stretched nearly one kilometer around the Paturia and Aricha ferry terminals.
