Farmers in 12 upazilas of Sunamganj are busy harvesting, threshing, and drying paddy in the haor areas. At the same time, they are gathering hay to use as cattle fodder for the entire year. For generations, agriculture in the haor regions has relied heavily on domesticated livestock. This year, farmers are expected to collect approximately 500,000 tonnes of hay from the haors to provide for around 800,000 cattle in the district, according to the Department of Livestock Services. –Jahangir Alam
