Dhaka University ranked 16th among South Asian institutions, maintaining its leading position among Bangladeshi universities for the second consecutive year.
Expressing his satisfaction over the achievement, DU Vice-Chancellor Prof ABM Obaidul Islam said the university's position in the international rankings was a matter of joy and pride.
"Consistently maintaining the top position among Bangladeshi universities is recognition of the collective efforts of our teachers, students, researchers and all concerned," he said.
He said the university aimed not only to maintain its position in international rankings but also to strengthen its global standing by improving the quality of education and research.
"Enriching the university's academic and research environment, expanding research facilities, strengthening international collaboration and creating opportunities for students to develop skills that meet global standards are among the priorities of the university administration," he added.
The Vice-Chancellor also stressed the importance of collective efforts in achieving these goals, saying that cooperation from teachers, students, alumni and other stakeholders was essential to further improving the university's academic and research standards and enhancing its international competitiveness.
The QS Asia University Rankings evaluate institutions based on several indicators, including academic reputation, faculty-to-student ratio, research quality and impact, the proportion of academic staff holding PhD degrees, international research collaboration, and the proportions of international faculty members and students.
Universities' overall positions are determined by their performance across these indicators.
