A day-long event titled ‘Robo Fest 2026’ was held in Jamalpur on Sunday.

The programme was organised by the Science and Innovation Club of United Public School and College, Jamalpur, and United Trust, in collaboration with United International University (UIU), according to a press release.

Under the theme ‘A Journey into the World of Robotics,’ the festival showcased different innovations in robotics and modern technology, inspiring students to explore the world of technology.

The festival featured various technological innovations and projects developed by the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) of UIU.

Notable exhibits included UIU Mars Rover, UIU Aerial Robotics, UIU Rescue Rover and UIU Mariner, along with several other robots and technology-based projects.

Students from United Public School and College, MA Rashid Memorial Academy, and MA Gafur Memorial Academy in Jamalpur participated in the event.

During the exhibition, members of Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) presented different innovations and activities across three major areas of robotics: ground, marine and aerial robotics.

The ground robotics segment featured the Mars Rover and Rescue Rover, while the marine robotics segment showcased UIU Mariner. Various technologies and activities developed by the UIU Aerial Robotics team were also presented.

Students and visitors had the opportunity to observe these innovations firsthand and learn about their operational mechanisms and practical applications.

The UIU Mars Rover team secured third place globally and first place in Asia at the University Rover Challenge (URC) 2026. The team also received the ‘Best Autonomous System Recognition’ award at the same competition. This remarkable accomplishment marks a historic and proud moment for Bangladesh. It is also recognized as a unique achievement in the 20 years history of rover competitions in Asia.

Meanwhile, the UIU Aerial Robotics team secured fourth place globally at the Student Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS) 2026 competition. The team also made history as the first Bangladeshi team to participate in this prestigious competition.

The objective of Robo Fest 2026 was to enhance students’ innovative thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills while encouraging their interest in science and technology-based education.

The event also emphasised providing students with hands-on experience and practical knowledge of robotics, programming, Artificial Intelligence, and engineering design, read the release.

Through initiatives like this, students in Jamalpur are expected to gain a deeper understanding of modern technologies and their practical applications.

The festival is also expected to play an important role in inspiring students to participate in national and international science, programming, and robotics competitions in the future.
