Tagore University of Creative Arts (TUCA) has launched a skill development platform titled “Canvas” (Centre for Arts, Networking, Vocational and Applied Skills) to equip students with professional and career-oriented skills and bridge the gap between academic learning and industry demands.

The platform was formally inaugurated at a programme held at the university campus in the capital’s Uttara on Sunday afternoon. Robin Khan, chairman of the university's Board of Trustees, attended the event.

The initiative aims to promote creative and practical learning while providing students and young professionals with opportunities to develop skills, plan careers and achieve professional excellence alongside their academic education, said a press release.

Canvas is initially launching five short-term courses: Apparel Merchandising, Fashion Merchandising, AI-Augmented Content Development, AI-Augmented Software Development, and News Presenting, Reporting and Speaking.

The platform also plans to introduce a Career, Employment and Entrepreneurship Development Programme to help students prepare for jobs, enhance their professional skills and develop entrepreneurial capabilities.

The university plans to expand the training programmes in the future in line with industry demands and technological advancements.

Robin Khan said Canvas would enable students to acquire workplace skills alongside academic knowledge.

The initiative would also strengthen collaboration between the university and industries while creating opportunities for young people to secure employment and become entrepreneurs, he added.
