Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) has dismissed five teachers and two employees on disciplinary grounds following a unanimous decision at its 115th syndicate meeting, held to address allegations of violating university rules, using fake experience certificates to secure jobs, age-related recruitment irregularities and other misconduct.

The dismissed teachers are Prof Dr Pintu Chandra Shil of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department, Prof Dr Subrata Talapatra of the Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM) Department, Assistant Professor Nibir Mondal of the Environmental Science and Engineering (ESE) Department, and Prof Dr Masrura Mostafa and Assistant Professor Shahriar Roman of the Humanities and Business Department.

The two other employees dismissed are Deputy Registrar Nimai Chandra Mistry and office assistant Satyajit Kumar Dutta.

All seven had been under temporary suspension for a long period before the final decision was taken.

KUET Registrar Engineer Md Anisuur Rahman Bhuiyan said today that the decision was made at the university's 115th syndicate meeting.

He said allegations had previously been brought against the employees, leading to their temporary suspension.

Following investigations, the university sought explanations from several of them. Some submitted responses, while others did not, he added.

The syndicate unanimously decided to dismiss the five teachers, one officer and one employee, the registrar said.
