JU professor Shamima Sultana appointed PSC member

The government has appointed Jahangirnagar University (JU) Professor Dr Shamima Sultana as a member of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC), according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Sunday.

The appointment was made by the president under Article 138(1) of the Constitution, subject to her severing all professional and employment ties with any profession, business or government, semi-government or non-government institution or organisation.

Speaking about her appointment, Prof Shamima said she would carry out the responsibility entrusted to her with honesty.

“I want to discharge the responsibility entrusted to me by the government, which has placed its trust in me, with honesty,” she said.

The notification, signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Al Bashirul Islam, said her tenure would be five years from the date she assumes office or until she reaches the age of 65, whichever comes first.
