Mahiuuddin elected president, Shibli gen secy of public university PR association

Dr Mohammad Mahiuddin, acting director of the Public Relations Office at Jahangirnagar University (JU) has been elected president of the Bangladesh Public University Public Relations Association (BPUPRA), while Shamsul Alam Shibli, deputy director of the Public Relations and Press Publication Office at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University, has been elected its general secretary.

A 25-member executive committee for the 2027-2028 term was formed at the association's annual general meeting held at Jahangirnagar University today, said a press release.

Rafiqul Islam Panna of Dhaka University was elected senior vice-president, while Mohammad Ali of Begum Rokeya University and Nazrul Islam of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University were elected vice-presidents.

Khalilur Rahman of Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and Saiful Islam of Jagannath University were elected joint general secretaries.

Babul Hossain Babu of Pabna University of Science and Technology was elected treasurer, while Mohammad Al-Amin Khan of Bangladesh Open University was elected organising secretary.

Other officer bearers are- office secretary Farhad Rahman Sarkar of Jahangirnagar University, publicity and publication secretary Salman Sadekin Chayan of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), social welfare secretary Mostak Jahan of Bangladesh University of Professionals, and sports secretary Muhammad Rashedul Islam of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET).

The executive members are agricultural scientist Deen Mohammad Deenu of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Bashirul Islam of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Golam Mortuza of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), Kamrun Nahar of Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), Khademul Islam of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Sahed Hasan of Islamic University, Khondaker Moazzem Hossain of Chittagong University and Abu Saleh Muhammad Musa of Islamic Arabic University.

The new committee was announced unanimously at the meeting, chaired by outgoing president Abul Kasem Sikder. Following the meeting, the outgoing leaders handed over responsibilities to the newly elected committee.

The Bangladesh Public University Public Relations Association was established in 2020, bringing together public relations officials from public universities across the country.
