Jahangirnagar University (JU) is hosting its first large-scale “JUCSU Job Fair and Career Summit 2026.”
Organised by the Jahangirnagar University Central
Students’ Union (JUCSU), the job fair has attracted more than 25 corporate
organisations.
According to the organisers, more than 700 job
opportunities are available at these companies.
The day-long event began at 10am on Friday at the central
field adjacent to the university’s Teacher-Student Centre. A large number of
students were present from the morning.
Job seekers were visiting various company booths to
learn about employment opportunities and speaking directly with company
representatives. Many students were also submitting their CVs to different
organisations.
One student participating in the job fair said,
“This job fair organised by JUCSU has created considerable enthusiasm among
general students. We are visiting different booths and learning about job
opportunities. We welcome JUCSU for organising such an event for students.”
The student added, “JUCSU has completed an important
initiative through this job fair. Similar activities need to continue so that
the remaining commitments can also be fulfilled. As general students, we want
the next JUCSU to continue organising such initiatives for students’ welfare.”
While visiting the job fair and speaking to
journalists, JUCSU General Secretary (GS) Mazharul Islam said they were making
every effort to fulfill the promises they had made to students before the end
of JUCSU’s term.
He said, “The Job Fair and Career Summit is being
held today from 10am to 6pm. We have organised this event for university
students with the participation of more than 25 corporate organisations and
more than 700 job opportunities.”
Mazharul Islam said students had been participating
spontaneously since the morning. They were talking with representatives of
different organisations, learning about employment opportunities, and gaining
insights into their careers.
The participating companies will conduct their
recruitment processes according to the qualifications and prescribed criteria
of the applicants.
Speaking about JUCSU’s activities over the past
year, he said, “The JUCSU election was held on 11 September last year.
Throughout the year, we tried to dedicate ourselves to the welfare of students.
Despite various obstacles and limitations, every secretary of JUCSU worked to
the best of their ability.”
He said they had worked toward ensuring a
student-friendly environment, resolving academic problems and discrimination,
and creating a safe and comfortable campus for students.
Referring to the activities of previous student
unions, the GS said, “In the activities of many previous student unions, there
have sometimes been allegations of power abuse, tender manipulation, trading in
appointments, and illegal financial gain. But from the very beginning, we have
tried to ensure a good environment at the university and a safe and comfortable
campus for students.”
Leaving the assessment of their activities to the
students, he said, “We had many limitations, and there will also be criticism.
However, the students themselves will judge how successful our efforts and
contributions have been.”
Mentioning that the end of JUCSU’s term is
approaching, Mazharul Islam said, “We have only seven to eight days left. Until
the very last moment, we are making our best efforts to fulfill as many of the
commitments we made to students as possible.”
Alongside the day-long job fair, a “Road to
Corporate: Career Session” was held at the university’s Senate Building at 7pm
on Friday.
Three speakers provided students with
guidance on corporate careers, professional development, practical workplace experiences,
and career growth.
According to the organisers, the event is not merely
a job fair; rather, it is an integrated platform combining recruitment,
networking, career learning, and industry exposure for students and young
graduates.
Through the initiative, students will have the
opportunity to establish direct connections with organisations from various
sectors, creating new possibilities for future employment.
