Khulna University Prof Nazmus Sadat appointed GSTU VC

Prof Md Nazmus Sadat from the Forestry and Wood Technology Discipline of Khulna University has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Gopalganj Science and Technology University (GSTU).

The appointment was announced on Sunday through a notification issued by the Science and Technology University Branch of the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education.

According to the notification, with the approval of the Honorable President and Chancellor, Dr Nazmus Sadat has been appointed to the post of Vice-Chancellor of GSTU under Section 10 (1) of the 'Gopalganj Science and Technology University Act, 2001 (Amended-2023)', subject to the following conditions:

His term of office as Vice-Chancellor will be 4 (four) years from the date of joining, or until he reaches the age of retirement, whichever occurs earlier, He will receive salary and allowances equivalent to his current position, He will enjoy other facilities related to the post as per the rules, As the chief executive officer of the university, he must reside on the university campus full-time and The Honorable President and Chancellor may revoke this appointment at any time if necessary.

The notification, signed by Md Shah Alam Siraj, Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Education by order of the President, further stated that this order has been issued in the public interest and will take effect immediately.

Previously, following the July Uprising, the Ministry of Education had issued a notification appointing Prof Hossain Uddin Shekhar from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Dhaka University as the Vice-Chancellor.
