Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activists staged a protest march and rally on the Dhaka University campus on Saturday night, accusing Islami Chhatra Shibir of staging "dramas" of disappearances and kidnappings to cover up various crimes.

The protest began from the Central Shaheed Minar at 9:00pm and concluded at the Shahbagh intersection. During the the march, Chhatra Dal leaders and activists chanted slogans against Chhatra Shibir and strongly condemned its activities.

At the concluding rally, Chhatra Dal leaders alleged that Chhatra Shibir is insulting genuine victims of enforced disappearances by fabricating certain incidents.

They also accused Shibir of running covert politics, committing crimes such as rape and the torture of women, and systematically spreading false accusations against the government online.

Amanullah Aman, the central organising secretary of Chhatra Dal, labelled the current activities of the student wing as "hypocrisy of the lowest order."

He claimed that the politics of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir has been "founded on hypocrisy and secrecy" since its inception.

Aman also criticised the organisation’s historical and ideological positions, highlighting inconsistencies between the statements and actions of its leadership.

Furthermore, Chhatra Dal Central General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir claimed that a recent "disappearance drama" in Comilla was a planned incident.

He pointed out that Chhatra Shibir recently identified a person involved in the Comilla incident as the assistant international secretary of their central committee, despite never making information about that committee public before.

"We have been demanding that they reveal the committee for a long time. But they have not done so. Now, through various incidents, the identities of their secret committee members are coming to light," Nasir said.

Chhatra Dal Central President Rakibul Islam Rakib echoed these sentiments and condemned the rival student organisation.

"The Chhatra Shibir is staging a drama of disappearances and kidnappings in the guise of a student camp and through this, they are insulting the real victims. At the same time, they are blaming the government by spreading false propaganda online," Rakib said.

Dhaka University Chhatra Dal President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas, General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon, and other leaders and activists from both the central and university branches participated in the protest.
