Jahangirnagar University Central Student's Union (JUCSU) organised a protest march demanding exemplary punishment for incidents of rape and anarchy that have occurred across the country including  Narsingdi.

The protest  began on Friday (February 27) at 10:30 PM in the university’s Bottola area. After marching  through various roads on campus, it concluded at the same location.

During the procession, protesters were heard chanting slogans such as: “There will be no place for rapists in this Bengal", "We want execution for rapists", "Break and crush the dens of rapists" “Why was my sister raped, Tareque Zia, we demand answers", "Why was my sister raped, Administration, we demand answers," and "Why was my sister raped, Asaduzzaman, we demand answers".

Later, a brief rally was held at Bottola, conducted by JAVSU’s Literary Affairs Secretary, Zahidul Islam.

At the rally, JACSU Executive Member Mohammad Ali Chishti said, "We have seen  in the past that our mothers and sisters were raped by members of the Chhatra League for voting for BNP in Noakhali. Similarly,  a woman was raped for voting for the NCP in Hatiya. Although legal cases were filed regarding these incidents, we have not received justice to this day, because individuals affiliated with the ruling party were involved."

He further added, “If the culture of impunity for crimes like rape continues in the country and criminals continue to escape justice due to political influence, then one day the people of this country will be forced to take justice into their own hands."

JACSU General Secretary Mazharul Islam said, “A child was taken from her father’s arms, raped, and then murdered in Narsingdi.  Honorable Prime Minister, can you avoid responsibility for this? You cannot. However you came to power by engineering or otherwise, you are now in office. Control your grassroots government. Otherwise, it will become a failed government like before."

He concluded, "If you fail to set an example of ensuring justice for rape, the people of Bangladesh will resolve this issue themselves."
