Ahsan Al Mumin and Jarif Siyam starred with bat and ball as Bangladesh Under-19 secured a 45-run victory over Sri Lanka in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) U-19 Asia Cup at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman on Saturday.

Sent in to bat after losing the toss, the Junior Tigers posted 245 before being bowled out in 50 overs, thanks largely to impressive contributions from Jarif and Ahsan.

Openers Jarif and Abdullah Al Muhi provided a solid start. Muhi scored a brisk 30 off 25 balls, while Jarif anchored the innings with 59 off 83 deliveries.

Ahsan then took responsibility in the middle order, striking a valuable 82 off 98 balls to guide Bangladesh to a competitive total.

For Sri Lanka, Sethmika Seneviratne claimed four wickets, while Gimhan Mendis picked up three.

In reply, Sri Lanka fought hard, with Senuja Wekunagoda leading their resistance. However, the Junior Tigers held their nerve to defend the total and seal a convincing 45-run victory.

Jarif also made an impact with the ball, producing an economical spell of 1-34 in nine overs. Tafiul Alam Tamim, Sheikh Atiqur Rahman, Rubay Islam Rizon and Robiul Hasan Anik claimed two wickets apiece to dismantle the Sri Lankan batting line-up.
