West Indies are targeting a first-innings lead by restricting Bangladesh below 250 in the second Test in Sylhet, according to batter Amir Jangoo.
Bangladesh ended the second day on 88-3 on Friday, trailing the visitors by 268 runs after West Indies posted 356 in their first innings.
Jangoo, who scored a brilliant 133, said the pitch was becoming easier for batting, but his bowlers needed to remain patient and maintain pressure.
“I would say below 250. The wicket is getting better for batting. Once a batter gets set, it becomes difficult to get him out,” he said after the day's play.
Bangladesh lost Nayeem Hasan (0), Tanzid Hasan (16) and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (18). Towhid Hridoy (29*) and Mushfiqur Rahim (19*) remained unbeaten at stumps.
Jangoo admitted West Indies were disappointed not to reach their target of 400 but were satisfied with scoring more than 350.
“Our main target is to create pressure. We have to be patient and keep trying to take wickets,” he added.
