Bangladesh staged a strong comeback on the second day of the Sylhet Test, bowling out West Indies for 356 shortly after lunch at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Resuming the day at 235 for four, the visitors lost their remaining six wickets for 121 runs to be dismissed for 356 in 106.4 overs.

Pacer Hasan Mahmud led Bangladesh's bowling attack with a career-best haul of six wickets for 90 runs in 24 overs, completing his maiden five-wicket haul on home soil and his fifth in Test cricket.

Hasan made early inroads with the second new ball in the morning session, dismissing overnight centurion Aamir Jangoo in the 82nd over. Jangoo, who had scored a commanding 133, shouldered arms to a delivery that went on to disturb his stumps.

Hasan continued his impressive spell after lunch, removing Shamar Joseph for 16 with a sharp delivery that sent his stumps flying.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz wrapped up the West Indies innings by trapping Jayden Seales lbw for 15 in the 107th over, with the decision upheld on review.

Mehidy finished with two wickets for 82 runs, while Taskin Ahmed also claimed two wickets.

The dismissal of West Indies for 356 gave Bangladesh a strong opportunity to build on their bowling performance and take control of the match.
