The Bangladesh government has formed a new 29-member ad-hoc committee to run the Bangladesh Bodybuilding Federation, naming veteran sports organiser Habib Ullah Don as its president.

Don, who previously served as the head of the Bangladesh Badminton Federation, will be joined by Rasedur Rahman Nayan as the new general secretary. The full governing body includes six vice-presidents, two joint secretaries, a treasurer, and 18 executive members.

Tasked with a clear mandate from the National Sports Council, the temporary committee must hold federation elections within the next three months.

Taking charge of the new board, Don expressed his commitment to raising the standard of the sport and making bodybuilding more popular across the country.

"Bodybuilding is not new to me. I am well acquainted with this community," the new president said. "I want to take the necessary steps for the development and welfare of the federation. Spreading bodybuilding across the country is one of my main goals."

Alongside hosting regular domestic events, the new leadership plans to ensure Bangladeshi athletes compete consistently on the international stage.

"Since we are a sports federation, we must take part in various tournaments abroad, as well as organise competitions at home," Don added. "You cannot expect to improve without competition. We want to take these activities forward seriously."
