Daffodil beat Sonargaon 2-0 to reach final

Daffodil International University (DIU) continued their unbeaten run in the ABG University Cup, defeating Sonargaon University 2-0 in a hard-fought first semi-final to book their place in the final on Monday.

Both sides started aggressively at Bashundhara Kings Arena in ABG Sports City, but neither could break the deadlock in the first half as their respective defences held firm.

The teams went into the interval with the scoreline goalless.

The contest came to life after the break, with both sides pushing hard for the opening goal. Daffodil eventually made the breakthrough in the 60th minute through their foreign student Saliso, sparking celebrations among their supporters.

Sonargaon tried to fight back but could not find an equaliser. Daffodil sealed the victory in the final minute when Juel converted a penalty, putting the result beyond doubt.

The 2-0 victory ensured DIU’s place in the final and extended their impressive run in the tournament.
