Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan has become the first bowler in men's T20 International cricket to reach the landmark of 200 wickets, adding another remarkable achievement to his illustrious career.
The 28-year-old reached the milestone during the second T20I against Zimbabwe at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday . Needing just one wicket to enter the record books, Rashid dismissed Zimbabwe wicketkeeper-batter Tadiwanashe Marumani for two, trapping him leg-before-wicket while the visitors were chasing a target of 222.
Rashid achieved the feat in his 120th T20I appearance, further extending his lead at the top of the all-time wicket-taking chart. He had previously become the leading wicket-taker in men's T20Is in 2025 September, overtaking New Zealand's Tim Southee.
The Afghan star has also crossed the 700-wicket mark in T20 cricket across all competitions, becoming the first bowler to achieve the feat.
Since making his international debut against Zimbabwe in 2015 October , Rashid has established himself as one of the most successful bowlers in the shortest format.
England's Adil Rashid is second on the T20I wicket-taking list with 171 wickets in 153 matches. Hong Kong's Ehsan Khan and New Zealand's Ish Sodhi are joint-third with 165 wickets each, while Southee sits fifth with 164.
