Bangladesh’s shooting team left Dhaka for Qatar on Friday afternoon to compete in the ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun, scheduled to take place in Doha from 1 to 14 November.

The 11-member contingent comprises nine shooters, a team manager and a coach, who will represent Bangladesh at the prestigious international competition featuring the world’s leading shooters.

The Bangladesh Shooting Sport Federation (BSSF) has selected Robiul Islam, Rabbi Hasan Munna, Abdullah Hel Baki, Arnab Sharar, Shovon Chowdhury, Kamrun Nahar Koly, Md Ridoy Ahmed, Safa Bin Sahid and Tasmayati Emma for the championship. Mohammad Rezaur Rahman will serve as team manager, while Md Saiful Alam Chowdhury will accompany the team as coach.

The competition will feature three major disciplines rifle, pistol and shotgun with shooters competing across individual and team events. It will bring together some of the world's top-ranked athletes, including Olympic and world champions, at the Lusail Shooting Complex in Doha.

Beyond the fight for world titles, the championship carries added significance as it marks the beginning of the shooting qualification pathway for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. A total of 36 Olympic quota places will be awarded across 12 individual events, making it a major opportunity for participating nations to secure early places at the Games.

The tournament will feature Olympic events such as the 10m air rifle, 10m air pistol, 50m rifle three positions, 25m pistol, skeet and trap, alongside several non-Olympic competitions.
