Bangladeshi squash player Parvez Karim finished ninth overall and claimed the Plate Championship at the Colombo Junior Open Squash Championship 2026 in Sri Lanka, earning an encouraging result for the country’s emerging talents.
The Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) player competed in the international tournament with sponsorship support from Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB), highlighting the role of institutional backing in providing young athletes with opportunities to compete abroad.
Bangladesh Squash Rackets Federation General Secretary Faiaz Rahman congratulated Parvez and the other Bangladeshi participants, while expressing his ambition to see the country’s players challenge for major international titles.
“Parvez Karim’s ninth-place finish (Plate Champion) in Sri Lanka reflects the potential of our young squash players. I congratulate Parvez and all the athletes who represented Bangladesh in the tournament,” Rahman said.
“However, our ambitions go beyond this achievement. We want to see Bangladeshi players competing for the main championship titles at international tournaments. I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to Mutual Trust Bank for supporting our young talents.”
Rahman added that the federation’s newly formed ad hoc executive committee would prioritise player development, expand opportunities for international competition and focus on the long-term growth of squash in Bangladesh.
The federation believes that consistent training, regular exposure to international tournaments and sustained sponsorship will be crucial to helping Bangladeshi players improve their performances and compete for bigger honours on the global stage.
