Bangladesh claimed the compound women's team gold medal at the Asia Cup Archery Stage 2 tournament on Wednesday, defeating Kazakhstan 230-220 in the final.
The trio of Bonna Akter, Sreeporna Biswas and Kulsum Akter Mone dominated, outscoring their opponents across all four ends (57-55, 57-52, 58-56, 58-57).
"The Bangladesh Archery Federation extends its heartfelt congratulations to the athletes, coaches, officials, and everyone involved in achieving this proud moment for the country," the federation stated. "The Federation also wishes the Bangladesh archery team continued success in future international competitions."
Despite the team triumph, Bonna missed a double crown after she and Rakib Ahmed Newaz lost the mixed team final 153-142 to Kazakhstan. A disastrous 29-39 second-set deficit proved decisive following a 38-38 opening tie. The third set finished 37-37, before Kazakhstan edged the last 39-38.
The men's compound team of Himu Bachar, Tariqul Islam and Rakib also fell to Kazakhstan, losing 230-224. Trailing 54-59 in the second set cost them gold, despite drawing the third 57-57 and winning the fourth 60-59.
Meanwhile, Kulsum secured the women's individual compound bronze by beating Kazakhstan's Ayazan 116-110.
Bonna can still find individual glory when she faces Kazakhstan's Milana in Thursday's compound final. Bangladesh's recurve men and women will also contest their respective finals on the same day.
