No goals, no winner between IUB and UIU

Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) and United International University (UIU) shared the points after a goalless draw in the ABG University Cup football tournament at Bashundhara Kings Arena on Tuesday.

Despite an entertaining contest featuring repeated attacks and counter-attacks, neither side could find the net in the Group A encounter as poor finishing and resolute defending kept the scores level.

Both teams started aggressively, repeatedly threatening each other’s defence in search of an early breakthrough. However, their forwards failed to convert the chances they created, and the first half ended without a goal.

The pattern continued after the break, with both sides pushing hard to break the deadlock. Despite creating several promising opportunities, neither team managed to produce the decisive finish.

The final whistle confirmed a stalemate, leaving IUB and UIU to settle for a point each in Group A.

The ABG University Cup 2026 began on 25 October under the initiative and patronage of Anvir Bashundhara Group (ABG) Chairman Sayem Sobhan Anvir. The tournament features 20 teams from 10 universities competing in cricket and football, with matches being broadcast live by T Sports, the country’s only dedicated sports television channel.
