The hunt for Bangladesh's next sporting superstar is set to kick off. On 5 November, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will launch the massive second season of the 'Notun Kuri' grassroots talent hunt from Khulna District Stadium, sounding the starting whistle across 503 sub-districts simultaneously.

Briefing the press on Sunday following a venue inspection, State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque revealed staggering numbers. A record 16 lakh 23 thousands hopefuls registered online smashing season one’s 168,000 entries. Soon, 14 lakh athletes will lace up for 4,599 union-level teams, battling towards a May or June final.

"This event is designed to unearth talented players hidden at the grassroots," Aminul declared. With season one's standout performers already honing their skills at the national sports institute (BKSP), he promised full government backing for their education and athletic development. "We won't let them fade away. Through sports, we can build a healthy, drug-free nation," he added, echoing the Prime Minister's vision to use sport for social change.

Aminul also outlined a game plan to transform Khulna District Stadium into a fully equipped arena. A fresh calendar guarantees year-round action from January across local stadiums and the Women's Sports Complex.
