Bangladesh experienced mixed fortunes at the first Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship in Ahmedabad, India, with the men's team storming to a massive win over Canada after the women suffered an opening-day defeat.

The men's side delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, thrashing Canada 67-28 to kick off their campaign in style. From the starting whistle, the men in red and green took total control of the mat. They racked up points through relentless attacks and kept the Canadians firmly on the back foot.

Slipping behind early on, Canada struggled to mount any real defence and simply could not cope with Bangladesh's constant pressure. The Asian side kept up their aggressive play right to the final whistle, sealing a heavy victory that will give them a massive confidence boost for the rest of the tournament.

The men will look to keep their winning momentum going when they face Kenya on Sunday.

Their commanding display offered a welcome lift after a frustrating start for the national women's team. On Friday, the Bangladesh women fell to a 34-25 defeat against Kenya in their tournament opener.

However, the women's squad are determined to put the loss behind them and will be aiming to bounce back when they take on Scotland in their second match on Sunday.
