Bangladesh off-spinner Aliss Al Islam has been reported for a suspected illegal bowling action following his One Day International debut against Afghanistan in the ongoing tri-nation series in Sharjah, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed on Thursday.

Match officials raised concerns over the legality of the 29-year-old’s bowling action after Wednesday’s encounter, according to a BCB press release. However, the board did not reveal which deliveries had prompted the report.

This is not the first time Aliss has faced scrutiny over his bowling action. He was previously reported for a suspect action in 2019 while making his T20 debut for Dhaka Dynamites.

Aliss, who was selected by Chittagong Kings for their opening match against Dhaka Capitals on Wednesday, is required to undergo a bowling-action assessment at the BCB on 25 January under the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) regulations governing illegal bowling actions.

The BCB has yet to clarify whether the spinner can continue playing while awaiting the outcome of the assessment.

The development comes on the back of Bangladesh’s defeat to Afghanistan, which brought an end to their hopes of qualifying for the tri-nation series final.
